Meet Rory, Artona Ambassador 2021

From Van Tech secondary in east Vancouver, Rory is one of fourteen ambassadors for #Grad2021. She's played ice hockey for her school since grade 8 and was even captain last year. When she's not on the ice or in class, Rory loves to spend her time outdoors, either on bike rides or walks, and hike around the local mountains. She also recently started volunteering at Canadian Blood Services (she says if you haven't donated yet, do it!)

Before her grad portrait session, she felt a bit nervous about her photos not looking right or the way she wanted. But after the photos were taken, she said the staff made her feel "so comfortable and confident" and that she had a lot of fun. She also knows how important graduation photos are:

"It gave me a sense of pride seeing my photo hung up on the fridge and framed. It reminds me of all the things I've accomplished"

Even though she's sad to leave her tight-knit community at Van Tech, she's looking forward to her next big adventure. She was hoping to take a year off to travel but due to the current pandemic, those plans have been put on hold. Instead, Rory will be attending the University of Victoria in the fall, with plans to go into nursing. She knows she'll have time to explore the world later on :) Congratulations Rory and we wish you all the best!
